International Overdose Awareness Day | August 31, 2023 | The Genesee County prevention coalition staged its third-annual Overdose Awareness Day on August 31. The day is used to bring attention to the number of overdose deaths in our county and to urge the community to be more vigilant in combating drug abuse. There have been 1,050 overdose deaths in the last five years in Genesee County. As part of the effort, the GCPC planted 1,000 purple flags on the Mott Community College's main campus along Court Street to create a visual reminder about this important issue.
