This program is designed to provide education for students seeking careers in various areas of criminal justice and related human service fields to include but not be limited to careers in local, county, and state law enforcement (see, the courts, loss prevention and juvenile and adult corrections. Students who plan to follow careers in business, early childhood education, social work, paramedics and other related careers may also be interested in select courses in criminal justice.

Degree Pathways outline one possible sequence of courses students may complete to fulfill their degree requirements as full-time students over the course of two years.
Students who have successfully completed a Michigan Police Officer Academy, a police academy in another U.S. state, or a United States federal law enforcement academy may be eligible to receive 16 articulated credits toward Mott Community College's Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Criminal Justice or Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Corrections.

To qualify, students must provide proof of academy completion or certification and be in good standing with the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES), a comparable law enforcement standards agency in another U.S. state, or a federal law enforcement agency. There is no time limit on when the academy was completed. Articulated credits are awarded after the student successfully completes five 100- or 200-level Mott Community College courses (excluding the courses listed above) with a grade of 2.0 (C) or higher. These five courses may be Criminal Justice, Corrections, General Education, or other eligible MCC courses. Students need to be enrolled in a Criminal Justice or Corrections program to receive the articulated credit. The credits apply toward completion of the A.A.S. in Criminal Justice or A.A.S. in Corrections.
Students who have successfully completed the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) Corrections Officer Academy, another U.S. state's Corrections Officer Academy, or the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) Corrections Officer Academy may be eligible to receive 9 articulated credits toward Mott Community College's Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Criminal Justice or Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Corrections.

To qualify, students must provide proof of successful completion of the Michigan Sheriffs’ Coordinating and Training Council Corrections Officer Academy and be in good standing with both the Michigan Sheriffs’ Coordinating and Training Council and a Michigan County Sheriff's Office as a Corrections Officer (or in a higher position). There is no time limit on when the academy was completed. Articulated credits are awarded after the student successfully completes five 100- or 200-level courses at Mott Community College (excluding the courses listed above) with a grade of 2.0 (C) or higher. These five courses may include Criminal Justice, Corrections, General Education, or other eligible MCC courses. Students need to be enrolled in a Criminal Justice or Corrections program to receive the articulated credit. The credits apply toward completion of the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Criminal Justice or Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Corrections.
People with criminal records may not be eligible for civil service positions, but may be eligible to work in private industry or for non-profits (e.g., security, halfway houses, etc.).
After successful completion of the Law Enforcement Regional Training Academy, the student will receive credit for the following courses: CRJU 163, CRJU 263, CRJU 265 CRJU 271, PEAC 106 and PEAC 193. Total 16 credits. To receive this credit a copy of the completed and signed Articulation Verification Form must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar by the Academy or the Program Coordinator. Mott Community College (MCC) agrees to grant appropriate college credit consistent with its current policies. All students articulating credit to MCC must meet and maintain all entrance academic standards, including prerequisites of the intended program of study. This agreement applies only to the Criminal Justice program. Recognition for credit granted will appear on the student's academic records as articulated MCC credit. Articulated credit will carry the grade of an "S" and will not be included in the GPA calculation. If the student changes to another program the credits will not apply.
After successful completion of the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards Approved Basic Training Course and 12 credits at MCC, including CRJU 161, the student will receive credit for the following courses: CRJU 163, CRJU 263, CRJU 265, CRJU 271, PEAC 106 and PEAC 193. Total 16 credits. To receive this credit a copy of the completed and signed Articulation Verification Form must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar by the Academy or the Program Coordinator. The student must complete 9 additional credits from the Occupational Specialty Category as well as all other degree requirements. This agreement applies only to the Criminal Justice program. If the student changes to another program the credits will not apply.
