Currently available in most Mott Community College computer labs are computers with Windows 10 which includes great features of built-in assistive technology software.

Students with this accommodation are able to receive their textbooks as an electronic file and use text to speech assistive technology to read the textbook. There are several free screenreading programs which students can download including NaturalReader.

Developed for computer users whose vision loss prevents them from seeing screen content, JAWS reads aloud what's on the PC screen.
This 'Pen' enables students with note taking accommodations to take notes while simultaneously recording the lecture. When the student goes back to study their notes, they simply place the pen at any place in their notes, and it will begin replaying the lecture at that exact spot. Smartpens are available for purchase through the MCC Bookstore.
Students with an accommodation to tape record their lectures can borrow a digital recorder from Disability Services or purchase one through the MCC Bookstore. Listening back to lectures can be a great way to review for tests and go over any parts of the lecture you had a hard time understanding.
