President

Dean Knoodle became active with the Alumni Association in 2016. He graduated from MCC in 1987 with an Associate's degree in Accounting, then graduated from Baker College of Flint in 1990 with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. He has worked for the Salvation Army and Flint Jewish Federation as a Business Manager and as Controller, respectively. He has been employed at Mott Children's Health Center for 14 years, currently serving as Financial Manager. He has been a longtime Big Brother volunteer in Flint and a member of the Downtown Flint Optimist Club for nearly 30 years, where he has served as President and Treasurer, currently serving as Secretary. He became the chartered Secretary of the Flushing Area Optimist Club established in 2015 and is active in a number of church and community activities.


Vice-President

Marcy (née Maricela) Garcia became active with the Alumni Association in 2015. She attended Flint JC starting in 1968 and thru the early 70’s. She hired into GM in spring of 1969 and in July 1977 thru 1981 began an electrical apprenticeship program thru their apprenticeship programs. She then graduated from Baker College of Flint in 1996 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration graduating Summa Cum Laude. She worked for GM at the Flint Engine Plant initially on production then entered into skilled trades as an electrician becoming the second woman to enter this field; but the first woman to finish on this trade. She was the Community Service Representative at her plant for a number of years until she retired, taking part in fundraisers and serving on numerous boards in the community; including the Spanish Speaking Information Center, Center for Civil Justice, Genesee County Hispanic Collaborative, Community Foundation of Greater Flint Women and Girls Fund, Region 1-C Women’s Committee, Coalition of Labor Union Women, the Local 659 Women’s Committee, March of Dimes and the American Cancer Society to name a few, and is currently on the board as Secretary for United Way. She retired from GM in early 2012 after nearly 43 years but remained active in her work in the community. She volunteered and helped initiate the Martus Luna weekly food giveaway program at the former Hispanic Tech Center. She is part of the interview series with Michael J. Thorp at the Capitol Theatre on Flint’s early years.
