The Friends continue to do “good works” for the Mott Library. They help meet the needs of the students at Mott Community College. An opportunity to share a love of libraries reflects in the commitment of the Friends of the Mott Library. Many items have been purchased using funds from the Friends. These include detection systems, artwork, leased book collection, preservation materials for archives, and much more.
The Friends of Mott Library help fund a collection of popular fiction and non-fiction books through the Baker & Taylor’s book leasing program.
The Friends of the Mott Library honor MCC retirees by purchasing a book for the library collection. College retirees are asked to select a book that has special meaning or interest to them. This benefits the students of MCC by adding to the library collection.
The Friends of the Mott Library have held a variety of fundraising activities. In addition to the annual membership drive, other fundraising activities have included book sales, murder mystery dinners, a fashion show, art auctions, silent auctions, bag bingo and other various events--with a percentage of the sales being returned to the Friends.
FRIENDraising events are hosted to raise interest in and obtain Friends members. It is an opportunity for us to get-to-know students, staff, and community patrons and for them to learn more about The Friends of the Mott Library.
