Located on the first floor of the Mott Library is a new room dedicated to student parents looking for a quiet, safe and secure area in which they can use to study while their children read or play nearby. Thanks to donations given by faculty and staff, children’s books and selective toys will be available to keep young minds busy while allowing their parent to research and work on assignments. Two computer workstations are available with wireless printing, as well as USB stations for charging needs.
Grayce Scholt was a former MCC Faculty Member teaching English—Children’s Literature, as well as a local artist and author. She retired from Mott after serving 35 years. Because of Grayce’s generous donation to the Friends of the Mott Library, we are pleased to be able to honor her legacy on campus in this way.
MCC’s own art students; Danielle Tice (May 2020 Graduate AAS Graphic Design) and McKenna Telke (December 2019 Graduate AAS Graphic Design) under the guidance and assist of MCC Professor’s Candy Martin and James Shurter created a beautiful mural in this room that provides an atmosphere of whimsy and play on one side while a quiet study area for adults is on the other side.
We are excited to share this beautiful space with our students.
